Broadway and West End legend John Owen-Jones will tour his Welsh homeland during June 2017 with four dates starting in Treorchy Parc and Dare on June 15th, Aberystwyth Arts Centre on the 16th, Rhyl Pavilion on the 17th and finishing at Blackwood Miners Institute on June 20th.

John Owen-Jones shot to musical theatre stardom in 1998 at age 26 when he became the youngest person ever to play Jean Valjean in Les Miserables. He went on to play prominent roles in popular theatre classics including The Phantom of the Opera, where he enjoyed success as the longest-running London Phantom, playing in nearly 1400 shows over a three and half year period.

The tour is being promoted by Orchard. The current Regional Promoter of the Year in the UK Live Music Business Awards. Orchard’s Dave Driscoll said: “We’ve worked with John on numerous occasions and audiences love him. I know he really enjoys coming home to perform, so there’s a treat in store across Wales in June.

John has reprised his role as Valjean on numerous occasions, including performances in the 2009 25th Anniversary tour of Les Miserables and performing as part of the Valjean Quartet in the 2010 Royal Variety Performance. He has enjoyed national and international success with this role, becoming the first British actor to perform as Valjean in both West End and Broadway productions. In November 2016 he once again reprised this role at the Dubai Opera House. He makes a return to London theatre next year when he will play the role of Burrs in The Wild Party.

Also on the schedule for next year is Tiger Bay: The Musical, a Wales Millennium Centre production in association with Cape Town Opera. Jones will be performing in South Africa as the Third Marquess of Bute in May 2017 and in Cardiff in November. He will also make an appearance in the North American Festival of Wales held in New York in September.

Alongside three studio albums, John Owen-Jones (2009), Unmasked (2011) and RISE (2015), John is making a return to the UK with his new single, Maria from hit musical Westside Story, available for purchase early next year. This comes ahead of his 2017 release of new Best Of album..
