The London Swing Orchestra was founded by Graham Dalby in 1985 for a VE Day party at the Hammersmith Palais. Thirty years later they celebrated with a live broadcast performance with the BBC Concert Orchestra for VE Day 2015. In that time the orchestra have played at major International events around the world including the Hong Kong Arts Festival and The Handover, and historic events such as HM the Queen Mother’s 100th at Windsor. The band have globe-trotted from Kuala Lumpur to Cebu, from Marrakech to Monte Carlo, and from Buckingham Palace to Beijing, bringing their own inimitable style of Jazz and Swing to ever widening global audiences. They have recently returned from Greece.
In 2017 the LSO will perform in Geneva for Action Innocence, for the Grand Austrian Ball and for the Bristol Rotarians 100th Anniversary. The orchestra were invited to play in Amman by Princess Badiya of Jordon, and in Monaco by Princess Caroline in 2015. Next year they will perform at another media attracting wedding but it will be a private affair.
The orchestra have recorded many albums from the 20’s to the 60’s and performed the music for the BBC’s Mrs Bradley Mysteries with Diana Rigg and David Tennant. The orchestra continue to delight audiences on the home front with the touring show The Great Legends of Jazz and Swing and to perform at vintage festivals in the UK.
